As the date was set in August to meet their fans in different cities of Brazil, MCND gave K4US an interview telling their expectations of giving a concert in Latin America. They even talked about which food/place they wish to try here, besides being super excited to perform #MOOD (track of their new EP released in July) for Brazilian Gems. Check it out!

The Brazilian audience is known for their enthusiasm in concerts. Which song do you guys are really excited to perform for the fans and, consequently, feel this enthusiasm?

CASTLE J: I am familiar with the passion and enthusiasm of the Brazilian audience. Since they know how to enjoy the concert, we’re looking forward to the concert tour with Brazil!
In addition to the existing exciting songs, I think #MOOD, the title song in the new album, is a song that Brazilian fans can enjoy. The title song is a hip hop dance song called “FUN & DYNMAIC” with our own excitement and confidence. I think the addictive chorus along with the powerful beat will be the main point of enjoying with the fans.

Of all the songs you’ve released so far, which one is your favorite?

HUIJUN: All the songs with our own colors are good, but my favorite song is “CRUSH”. It’s a song that shows off my powerful and energetic energy. It’s a song that shows MCND’s own performance that knows how to play on stage. It’s a song that makes me excited and happy every time I listen to it, so I’ll confidently recommend it not only to GEMs but also to the general audience.

MCND debuted and a short time later the COVID-19 pandemic began. How did you feel in this scenario? And how do you feel now, with everything going back to normal and you being able to finally meet the fans?

BIC: We haven’t had much of a chance to meet the fans face to face due to the pandemic so I’m grateful that now we finally have this opportunity.  In April, getting ready to tour America in August, and starting with a tour of Europe to meet our fans… I’m really grateful to have this opportunity.  Every time I meet, whether online for a short period, I feel happy and GEM your support is a great power!  So to be able to see all of this in person now is amazing.

We’re curious to know who inspired you to become MCND! Are there any South Korean artists/bands, or even international ones, that serve as a reference for you? Why do these people play such an important role in your lives?

CASTLE J: I would particularly say G-Dragon, and I dream of being like my senior Zico too.  They manage to connect a lot of fans through their music and style which has been a huge inspiration to me.  And these seniors, in a direct way, also did a lot for me in terms of production and learning, which makes me realize that little by little I’m able to build a musical identity.  The clock is ticking and the future, with these sunbaes, I really want to produce something with them!  And if I get a chance it would be a win for me.  I will be looking forward to it!

How was your preparation to visit so many countries on this world tour? Can we count that you learned how to greet the GEM’s in several languages?

MINJAE: First of all, I am very happy that after the pandemic, there will be a way to perform in Europe and the Americas. In addition, we are learning languages from various countries to communicate with overseas GEMs who are waiting for us! I’m not good at it yet, but I’m learning little by little with sincerity to share the same feelings through the tour with my beloved GEM.
We’ll see you soon, so please look forward to it a lot!

You have just been to some European countries for the European Tour, tell us how was this experience of having the first contact with the European fans?

WIN: I can’t forget GEM’s songs that I heard even before the concert. Before the start, GEMs gathered to do a K-POP medley, and my heart was pounding as I heard the sound in the atmosphere. And the cheers of the GEMs when we appeared were really touching. It was a grateful moment as I waited for a long time to meet GEM at the concert hall. All the time was precious, but I can’t forget the GEMs who were happy to see us for the first time. I still get emotional when I think about that time! Thank you, GEM.

By your debut and comeback it is possible to notice that you are a very versatile group adapting to various concepts. Is there a concept you haven’t tried out yet that you want to introduce to your fans?

HUIJUN: Through our activities, MCND has shown that we are a group that can have various concepts. I think this album will show more “FUN and DYNAMIC” charms with the hip hop genre. There are many songs that have our own positive vibes, so please look forward to the concept of this album. After the pandemic, there were a lot of songs where we could meet our fans and have fun. Please look forward to it and let’s have fun together!

Because it’s the group’s first time in Brazil, is there any place or food you want to know/try?

CASTLE J: I want to go see Iguaçu Falls. I heard it’s overwhelming.

BIC: I want to try snacks, haha. I want to eat delicious snacks from Brazil.

MINJAE: I want Brazil’s representative meat dish.

HUIJUN: I want to see the statue of Jesus known as the world’s most famous place. I’m really curious as it always appears in the video introducing Brazil.

WIN: I really want to try Churrasco. I heard that it smells good because it’s grilled over charcoal.

A specific question for Castle J as the leader of the group: Tell us a little bit about the good side and the not so good side of taking the lead in a K-pop group.

CASTLE J: First of all, the good thing is that you love music with MCND’s own color. I think the pride and gratitude that comes from there will be the reason why MCND exists. I think it’s the greatest joy and happiness that GEMs love the songs that we’ve worked hard on, and recognize our sincerity in the songs.
I think the difficult part is the pressure. As much as you love us, we need to show you our growth and development. When we work on songs and practice our choreography, we definitely feel burdened. However, we try to continue to work hard with the belief that singing a verse and dancing a part of the choreography will definitely please GEMs and further influence someone.
So please look forward to MCND, who continues to develop and communicate with us.
