The Prêmio Anual K4US – K4US Annual Awards – (PAK) 2021 has just released, this Thursday (18), the complete list of nominees for its third edition, with an awards ceremony scheduled for the next December 18th. Among the highlights are BTS, Tomorrow X Together (TXT), aespa and “Round 6”, the most watched series on Netflix of all time.

Among the top K-Pop categories, in ‘MV of the Year’ fans can find names like BTS, EXO, Enhypen, Oh My Girl, Everglow, ITZY, Lisa and Rosé, both from BLACKPINK, and SEVENTEEN. Already among TV and streaming nominees, ‘K-Drama of the Year’ contestants are “Doom At Your Service”, “Move To Heaven”, “Mr.  Queen”, “Navillera”, “Run On”, “Round 6”, “Start Up”, “Sweet Home”, “True Beauty” and “Vincenzo”.

In 2021, some groups stand out for having a greater number of nominations, such as BTS, nominated for seven awards: Male Group of the Year, Song of the Year, Choreography and MV of the Year (“Butter”), Hit of the Summer (“Permission to Dance”), Collab of the Year (“My Universe” – Coldplay feat. BTS) and Most Requested and Awaited Show in 2022.

TXT, that in the year brought a new image throughout the album ‘The Chaos Chapter: Freeze’, also stands out with 5 nominations in total: Boy Group of the Year, MV of the Year (“0X1 = LOVESONG (I Know I Love You) Feat. Seori”) and double nominations with the Song of the Year (“0X1 = LOVESONG (I Know I Love You) Feat. Seori” e “Anti-Romantic”).

The SM Entertainment group, aespa, also has caught the attention of k-poppers since its debut at the end of the second half of 2020, is the third most nominated, with four nominations: Breakthrough Artist, MV of the Year (“Savage”), Music of the Year and Choreography of the Year (“Next Level”).

New categories

Aiming to embrace new audiences, PAK 2021 has now two new categories: Best BL and Best International Series Act. In the Best BL category are nominated “Light on Me” (South Korea), “Lovely Writer” (Thailand), “A Tale Of Thousand Stars” (Thailand), “We Best Love” (Taiwan), “Kieta Hatsukoi” (Japan), “Cherry Magic” (Japan), “Word Of Honor” (China), “To My Star” (South Korea) and “Given” (Japan).

Already in Best International Series Act, are those who stood out among Asian entertainment: “A Tale Of Thousand Stars” (Thailand), “Alice In Borderland” (Japan), “You Are My Glory” (China), “Falling Into Your Smile” (China), “Kieta Hatsukoi” (Japan) and “Promise You The Moon” (Thailand).

In addition to the new categories, Highway Star’s Best Article was changed in 2021 to Highway Star’s Best Exclusive Video, which features ACE, BLACKSWAN, OMEGA X, 2Z, MCND and DONGKIZ among the nominees.

Other editions

Last year, PAK brought together participations from MCND, Minzy and Kisu, who performed an exclusive acoustic performance for Brazilian fans. The event featured the main Brazilian digital influencers in the field such as Thais Genaro, Babi Dewet and Bianca Alencar to announce the winners of some categories.

The second edition of PAK exceeded more than 2.5 million votes cast. The number represented a huge leap compared to 2019, when the award received more than 370 thousand votes.

PAK is an award conceived by K4US, in partnership with Highway Star, a Brazilian producer of events specializing in k-pop that brought names such as BTS, Pentagon and Oh My Girl to the country. The event aims to entertain and give visibility to the Korean pop culture fan community in Brazil, making room for them to express, in a fun and interactive way, their tastes and preferences in the Korean pop culture segment – Including, enabling the coming of more artists to Brazil, bringing international recognition to the Brazilian community.
