The Korean rock band Rolling Quartz earlier this year released their first mini-album titled “Fighting”.  The EP features six songs, including a cover of “Good Night“, an original song by the K-pop group Dreamcatcher.  Check out the band’s Rock’n Roll music video below!

In an interview with K4US, Ja Young (vocals), Areum (bass), Yeongeun (drums), Hyunjung (guitar) and Iree (guitar) talked about how Rolling Quartz’s first year as a band has been, the unexpected success of ” Blaze” and a possible collaboration with Dreamcatcher.

“It seems that we were capable of doing a lot of things that we wanted to do. And it has been a very interesting experience with an amazing feeling” said the vocalista Ja Young, about their experience as band in their first year of debut.

As they were asked about the success of the single “Blaze”, the guitarist Hyunjung said that they were not expecting such positive feedback from the audience. “We were not waiting for this at all! Because of that, it was very surprising and shocking. And it seems kinda crazy that it has gained one million views and on million streams” affirms.

Rolling Quartz debuted in a very troubled scenario due to the covid-19 pandemic.  Guitarist Iree says that the band used their YouTube channel to be able to show the public their “live” performance, as it was not possible to meet them in person.  In addition, using the platform was a way to gain new listeners and for the fans themselves to get to know the band’s performative side.

After the release of “Good Night“, a lot of fans wished that Rolling Quartz could collaborate with Dreamcatcher in the future doing an opening show at their concerts. When asked about this possibility, drummer Yeongeun states: “Even trying to imagine performing in a concert or in an opening with Dreamcatcher is already extremely exciting and it would be something that we would love to do in the future!” Who else would also love this collab?

MEET THE BAND 

Rolling Quartz emerged after the joining of the band “Rose Quartz”, composed by members Jayoung, Yeongeun and Hyunjung, and the duet “Rolling Girlz” built by Iree and Areum.

Under the Rolling Star Entertainment label, the band made their debut with the rock concept on December 30, 2020 under the official name “Rolling Quartz”.

The band’s debut single was very well received by the public.  “Blaze” has already accumulated over a million streams on Spotify and nearly a million views on YouTube.  In addition, Rolling Quartz drew a lot of attention from netizens after transforming the hit “Dynamite”, by the group BTS, into a Rock’n Roll version.
